The current situation with the global health crisis is naturally a worrying time for anyone in business. The horticultural sector is no different. Horticulture Week are already reporting that over 80% of those asked within the sector are saying that coronavirus is effecting their business.

Garden centres are providing a key service to their local communities, with people being told to work from home. Now more than ever peoples gardens are going to become their own oasis.

We believe that garden centres continuing to operate during this unprecedented time is important for their local communities, as giving people that link to the outside world will be invaluable for people’s mental and physical wellbeing, with the government encouraging people to continue to go outside for exercise.

Garden centres are also providing valuable services through their pet shops, ensuring local customers are still able to buy the supplies they need.

Like everyone, we here at First Franchise are keeping a keen eye on the daily press conferences from the government. We were pleased to see the rates relief knowing this will be vital to many businesses in the industry.
