BBC announces new Gardeners World schedule

Monty Don in his garden with his dogs

The BBC have confirmed that the new series of Gardeners World will begin on the 20th March.

This is great news for the sector, as sales have been hit due to the storms the UK has experienced over the last few months. We expect to see a pick in in sales as the programme, watched by millions across the UK, comes back to air and people start looking to spring and how to look after their gardens.

In the first programme, Monty Don will be showing the effects of the wet winter on his garden – Longmeadow. Monty Don’s dogs, including Nigel the Golden Retriever, will no doubt continue to feature.

The programme on the 27th March will feature a demonstration on growing veg, presented by Rachel de Thame.

Initially programmes will be 30 minutes long, with hour-long programmes starting on the 1st May. Later episodes will cover peat and plastic free gardening as well as garden history and propagation.

Frances Tophill, Adam Frost and Caro Klein are all returning for the new series.
